Cheal is an award-winning multi-disciplinary consultancy offering Civil Engineering, Surveying and Planning expertise to a national client base.  We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our Bay of Plenty team. This is an opportunity for career development without the additional stress and expense associated with the bigger centres and is not to be missed!

The Rotorua Lakes district is an exceptional location for water sports, walks, beautiful forests, golfing and some of the best fishing and mountain biking in NZ. With its central location you are only an hour from the beach and two hours from the ski field. Add this to affordable housing, good schooling and a friendly atmosphere and you have one of the best places in NZ to work as an Engineer - and that's without taking into account the unique ground on which the area stands and the opportunities this presents for your technical career.

If you can display the following traits, we would love to hear from you:

  • Design experience within the Civil Engineering infrastructure environment which may include such things as earthworks, roading, sewerage, water supply and stormwater projects
  • Experience required with 3D modelling software such as Civil 3D or 12D
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A highly proactive work ethic and the desire to exceed client expectations

What we offer:

  • Career development opportunities, including tailored pathways for those wanting to grow, annual training budgets, tertiary study programs, and payment of professional membership fees
  • Access to a mentoring program with some of New Zealand's top professionals.
  • Competitive remuneration
  • Commitment to employee well-being, supported by a passionate wellbeing committee.
  • Membership to Employment Assistance Program (EAP) service
  • Employee recognition programs, including a company conference and awards evening
  • Relocation assistance
  • We are big enough to have exciting projects but small enough to feel like a family company, our people are our biggest asset, and we love to see them excel

The Cheal culture is one of family, teamwork, community, and communication with a commitment to quality and a high level of technical expertise. We provide a high level of support to those wishing to pursue a progressive career path.

Cheal is committed to Health and Safety and equal opportunities in the workplace.
